Author Paul Hillmer to speak at Carleton Hmong celebration

Paul Hillmer, the author of “A People’s History of the Hmong” and an associate professor at Concordia University, will speak at Carleton College’s celebration of the traditional Hmong New Year on Saturday in Northfield.

The celebration, co-sponsored by the Coalition of Hmong Students (CHS) of Carleton College and Hmong Cultural Outreach (HCO) of St. Olaf College, has as its theme “How Many Ways Do You Speak?” Members of both organizations will perform at the event.

Hmong New Year celebration, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 13, Severence Great Hall (next to the Sayles Hill Campus Center, off of College Street) in Northfield. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call Bao Vue at (651) 263-5702.
